VASHNAVI PLAY SCHOOL & is a child friendly space with a cheerful ambience.

It has sufficient space for each child to feel at home. As a matter of policy, we keep the number of children at an optimum; so that no child feels overwhelmed by the presence of large numbers.

Our facilities are carefully selected and designed, with modern learning and teaching aids for delivery of the curriculum. Our day care is safe, hygienic, warm and full of age appropriate toys. Our premises house an outdoor play area, a kitchen area and a nap area.

We have a doctor ON CALL facility as well.

Our Pre-School

As the day breaks with birds chirping, so does the day at VPS open with the sounds of children saying a Sanskrit shloka, which is the ode to the sun and the new day.

For a child at Vashnavi Play School, every new day is a step into the warmth of the care of the care givers and teachers. And every step taken each day, is always a new step taken into new vistas of learning and discovery.

Our teachers, rather than teaching children, guide the child everyday in their journey of learning in an atmosphere that is free of fear, of shame, where children are encouraged to experiment, to ask questions, to be curious and to express their inner selves.

At Vashnavi Play School we use a combination of the play way method and the Montessori approach to learning. The child learns through nursery rhymes, reading books, stories, songs, colors, through shlokas and many outdoor activities. There is never a dull moment for the child.

The whole personality of the child is thus developed and prepared for the future.

Our Day Care

#

You will find in our day care, an environment of safety, warmth and wholesomeness, where you can keep your child and not have any worries whatsoever. The cheerful ambience of the day care welcome the child every day, to spend the day, amidst cheer, fun and learning. All children in a varying age group are welcome in the day care, from 5 months to 10 years.

The morning begins with activities that occupy the child’s mind and channelize energies towards exploring, interacting and building certain foundation skills such as, important for their growth.

These skills include:

  • Sensing seeing, hearing, touching.
  • Retrieving memory skills.
  • Recognizing forms, shapes, alphabets and numbers.
  • Linking, forming connections and inter-relationships and groups.
  • Making shapes, drawing, coloring, writing alphabets and numbers.
  • Exploring movements, actions and coordinating mind and body.
  • Expressing feelings through words and non verbal expression.
  • Sharing and cooperating.

During the day, there are snack and meal times, when the children practice eating at the dining table.

In the evening, children participate in a Circle Time, which is a group activity with songs, and stories that stimulate the child’s imagination as well as they learn skills of relating to others in a constructive way.

By evening, the children are ready to leave with their parents with wonderful stories how they spoke to another child, or the first time drew a house or added numbers or rolled in a sand pit.

Our Approach

Researchers over the years have pondered over the question ‘What is Intelligence?’ And along with there were other questions as well viz Who has it? Who hasn't? Is it fixed from birth? What’s it for? What is it? Where is it? Can it change?

For a long time, the intellect or the IQ was considered as the mark of intelligence. But over the years research has shown that intellectual ability is only one form of intelligence. There are other forms of intelligence as well- the intelligence of visualizing, of rhythm and sound, of understanding emotions and relationships and many others, which if developed result in achievement and success.

The researcher Howard Gardner identified at least 8 different kinds of intelligence:

Musical/Rhythmic Intelligence

Ability to come alive to a rhythm and a melody. Can engage easily with music. Can use beats and tunes to pick up new skills and ideas.

Mathematical/
Logical Intelligence

Logic and order are important to them. Can think like a machine. Their mind pulls them towards numbers and patterns. Learning can flow for you when ideas fit neatly together, with reasons.

Interpersonal Intelligence

Are an expert in the behavior and emotions of other people. Understand the weather of human moods. They love to communicate with others. Learning can happen for them their team is working well.

Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence

Words, words, words - written, read, spoken, heard. Words are the food of their mind. They love use words, and learn with words. Language is their life.

Naturalist Intelligence

They know their place in the environment, and they know the environment - city, country, mountain, motorway, animals, people – their mind knows how nature works. Learning can happen when nature and its organizing principles are available to them.

Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence

Their mind controls their body with great skill. Their body does just what you want it to. They manipulate objects easily. They may learn best through moving and touching.

Visual/Spatial Intelligence

They can close their eyes and can imagine whatever they want. They can go anywhere; create anything, in their minds. In their head, they can change what you've seen. Images may help them to learn.

You can see now that there are multiple routes to learning, teaching, creativity and success. And importantly, children have unique abilities and gifts.

Considering this, at Step Ahead, Our approach to the child’s development is based on the 5 Development Factor Approach. This is a holistic approach to a child’s development, rather than emphasis on developing only the child’s IQ.

In this approach the focus is on developing child’s:

  • Cognitive Ability - The ability to think, to analyze, to understand, to add etc.
  • Social & Emotional Ability - The ability to sense and feel emotions, to have insight about them, to regulate them and to express them, to identify with emotions in others, to empathize, the ability to interact with people, to trust, to listen, ask questions, be assertive and so on.
  • Physical & Motor Ability – The ability to make different kinds of movements, gestures, postures, gaits, the ability to balance in movement, to coordinate different parts of the body and thought in movement and so on.
  • Language Ability - The ability to use words in expression, written and oral, ability to communicate.
  • Spiritual Ability – The ability to see the oneness of life, to appreciate differences and diversities, to sense the sacredness of life.
